Youth Development

HYA Youth Club at Rancho Park

In partnership with South County Housing, the HYA Youth Club is a drop-in center that offers youth ages 13-19 an opportunity to develop positive social competencies within a safe and encouraging environment. This program allows teens to complete homework, work in the computer lab, or participate in enriching activities that assist them in developing life skills and lasting positive relationships with peers and adults. It is open two evenings per week at the Community Room at Rancho Park Apartments in Hollister and is supervised by trained community volunteers.

HYA Teen Leadership

The HYA Teen Leadership program is an ongoing youth development program for teens ages 13 to 19 years. Activities include youth conferences, fundraising events, field trips, peer counseling, community service projects, the Teen Rally, as well as educational workshops. Youth can also become mentors for younger students in the CASA de Milagros after school program by assisting and coordinating video and mural art projects at the sites.

Teen Rally

The first Teen Rally began in 2005 giving a forum to showcase youth talent and promote healthy living. The Teen Rally promotes youth “Living It Well, Loud and Strong”. Activities include a Battle of the Bands, a Dance Off, and a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Partners include City of Hollister Recreation Division, YMCA of San Benito County, Community Assistance Network, and South County Housing. Youth or youth groups interested in leading out in an activity, please contact the HYA office.
